Apparently some people fell for my decoy (below). But yep, no secret now.

Several weeks back me and some OCFers headed down to Torquay (that's pronounced "Thor-Key" my Malaysian friends) for some surfing. The problem is I decided not to surf cause I can't swim. Two near misses drowning, merely seconds from death made me pass up the offer indefinitely. I'll come to regret that decision later.
Torquay's located at the South Western part of Melbourne, after the town/city of Geelong. The ride from Clayton took us about an hour. The ride was okay.. except the fact that "someones" car didn't have an aircond. Nevertheless about 3 cars in total, plus one more which joined us about an hour later headed down to Torquay. It was DGs outing and they needed me to drive, otherwise I would've sent Jack off at the airport.
It's a beautiful town, which economy probably depends on dorky tourist like me, regular surfers and sight see-ers. The weather was perfect. It rained slightly in the morning, but thank God not a cloud was to be seen that early morning. The only annoying thing were swarms of summerflies.. everywhere we go.. millions of them.. just dying to land on our face and enter every possible opening around our heads. Gross.
Anyways, back to the main issue. Yeah, the dudes went surfing. The had the privilege to wear wet suits and possing with huge surf boards.. all for a price of $75. Before you get the heart breaks for the price, I can tell you that it was worth it. The waves weren't the gigantic types we usually see on TV, the heighest would've been less than 1.7 meters, just enough to give you a push and surf. When I was in the water the depth was only a mere 1 meter. Suddenly the regret came in of why I didn't just do it. I couldn't rent a board anymore, you need to pre-book, otherwise they'd charge extra. Anyway, I was in the water with them.. being the cameraman. Managed to snap some great shots and videos.. at a great price of cacatfying the camera. It still worked up to that point (until Wilson's Prom when it became even more cacat). After the camera KOed, I basically fooled around on the beach, helped people unto their surf boards and having a fun time.
After the whole thing we went back to Geelong just to hang out for a while before heading back to the city where we went to this Thai restaurant at the end of Lygon Street.
One lesson learned, the depth for surfing's usually safe for beginners. But I came for the fellowship, surfing or not.. it didn't really matter. =)
